Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about the mosque and the rebuilding project.
Questions and answers
Why does the mosque need to be rebuilt?
A structural assessment found the existing mosque is no longer safe. Severe rusting of the reinforcing steel has weakened the structure, and engineers warned about possible failure during a major earthquake or ground movement.
What will the new building include?
The proposal is a two-storey mosque extending towards the Eid Gaa area, with prayer halls and mihrab on both floors, male and female entrances, ablution areas and toilets, two staircases, and Imam accommodation with a living area and kitchen. See the proposed floor plans.
Will there be a prayer area for women?
Yes. The proposed first floor includes a dedicated women’s prayer area, and the new mosque is intended to support both male and female students of the neighbouring college.
What does the Maktab teach, and how do I register my child?
The Maktab teaches Qur’an reading, Tajweed, memorisation, Salah, daily duas, basic Islamic studies, and good manners. The schedule, ages, fees, and registration process are still to be confirmed — see the Maktab page.
Where can I find prayer times?
Confirmed prayer times will be published on the prayer times page. Until then, times are shown as “To be confirmed” — no times are guessed or invented.
What time is Jumu’ah?
Khutbah and Jama’ah times are still to be confirmed and may vary seasonally. Please check the Jumu’ah page before travelling.
Are the floor plans final?
No — they are proposed plans. Plans may be revised as the project progresses and as required by architects, engineers, or relevant authorities.
How can I donate?
Verified donation methods (bank transfer, online, and cash) will be published on the donate page once confirmed by the committee. Please treat any unverified account claiming to collect for this project with caution.
How is the project kept transparent?
Only confirmed information is published. Costs, fundraising totals, dates, and account details are shown as “To be confirmed” until verified, and progress is reported openly on the updates page.
Where can I follow project updates?
The updates page records each milestone of the rebuilding project as it happens.
